In an unprecedented and deeply symbolic move in the world of football, FC Barcelona has officially begun construction on El Memorial — a unique space dedicated to honoring its fans — within the new Camp Nou, set to open in November 2025.

The project aims to preserve the memory of thousands of supporters who wish for their ashes or commemorative symbols to remain beside the stadium they loved throughout their lives.

Located on the stadium’s lower floor, between the north stand and the side, the memorial will span 1,280 square meters, making it the largest memorial ever linked to a sports club.

🔹 El Memorial will feature:

  • 26,600 spaces for storing ashes

  • 9,000 commemorative plaques with fans’ names and dedications

  • Symbolic and artistic design elements

  • Interactive screens and video tributes honoring supporters and their families

Visitors will be able to enter this serene and dignified space during business hours to reflect and pay respects to their loved ones.

⚱️ Costs and Options:

  • Commemorative plaque (name, nickname, and message): from €605

  • Symbolic additions (official Barça jersey or gold bracelet engraved with Camp Nou): up to €1,220

  • Ashes vaults:

    • 25-year contract → €3,000

    • 50-year contract → €6,000

With this initiative, Barça continues to embody its motto — “Més que un club” — even beyond life itself.

Hansi Flick on Barcelona’s Playing Philosophy: “We are Barcelona, and we don’t want to change our style”

B arcelona head coach Hansi Flick has dismissed any notion of changing the club’s trademark playing style despite recent challenges. “No, we don’t want to change the style. Flick also suggested that once the full squad is available, the true measure of the team’s level will be clearer: “When everyone returns, then things can be measured better.” Barcelona continue to hold firm to their footballing DNA under Flick’s leadership.

The club relied heavily on its now-famous “financial levers” — strategic asset sales and future revenue commitments — to stay afloat. In 2017, Neymar’s record-breaking €222 million transfer to PSG initially appeared to secure Barcelona’s financial future. Yet subsequent signings of Coutinho, Dembélé, and Griezmann, coupled with Lionel Messi’s enormous contract, plunged the club deeper into crisis. The pandemic worsened the situation, with revenues collapsing and losses soaring to an unprecedented €555 million in 2020-21.
